We have been open and serving the Decatur and greater Atlanta area since October of 2003.  Prior to opening out doors, we were brainstorming for an idea of what we wanted to name our practice, and kept coming back to “the future”, “progress”, “moving forward”, “growth”, “steady progress”, and eventually settled on Avenir progressive psychiatric Services.  Avenir is a french word meaning the future or to arrive, and we settled on the tree motif to suggest that the seeds that any of us plant today have the potential to create strength and shelter in the future. 

Each of the providers here at Avenir are independent practitioners, though we frequently collaborate in order to help particular individuals from different perspectives. 

Currently, our practice includes Gregory A. Haley MD, Elle Trapkin LCSW, Wendy West LCSW, and office administrator/ owner Felix Kuemmerli.  We opened our doors in October of 2003 after a renovation of our office from another former incarnation.
